Description: Our client, a growing retail and franchising company seeks a Vice President of Legal Affairs to lead their legal department and provide strategic counsel across all business operations.Role OverviewThe VP of Legal Affairs will manage a team of five professionals, including paralegals, an insurance coordinator, and administrative support staff. This position combines franchise law expertise with general counsel responsibilities, focusing on building efficiencies while ensuring robust legal compliance.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a remote legal team of five professionals
  • Oversee all franchise-related legal matters including FDD preparation and compliance
  • Review and manage commercial contracts for retail operations
  • Coordinate with outside counsel when specialized expertise is needed
  • Develop and implement legal department strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • Provide strategic legal counsel to executive leadership
  • Manage legal risk across all business operations

Location & Travel

  • Hybrid position with occasional travel to Charlotte and Rock Hill office required

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree and active bar license
  • Significant experience in franchise law and operations
  • Strong background in commercial contracts and general corporate law
  • Proven leadership experience managing legal professionals
  • Experience working with private equity-owned companies
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills
  • Ability to balance technical legal requirements with practical business solutions
