Description: We are seeking a dynamic, qualified, and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join our team at our Arts at the Capital Theater High School. The ideal candidate will foster curiosity and a love of science in students while delivering a rigorous and engaging curriculum aligned with state and national standards. This position requires a commitment to educational equity and creating an inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners.Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with the Connecticut State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
  • Teach science courses across high school, such as Gneral Science, biology, environmental science, and anatomy.
  • Develop and implement differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Incorporate hands-on experineces, technology, and innovative teaching methods to enhance student understanding.
  • Create a positive classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and critical thinking.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, and communicate results to students, parents, and administrators.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum planning, interdisciplinary projects, and professional learning communities.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current in science education trends and best practices.
  • Uphold and model school policies, values, and expectations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in science, education, or a related field.
  • Connecticut State Department of Education Certification in General Science and Biology.
  • Strong knowledge of NGSS and best practices in science instruction.
  • Experience teaching high school science.
  • Expertise in integrating technology and STEM approaches into the classroom.
  • Demonstrated ability to support diverse learners in an inclusive environment.
