Description: Job Description:Fort Mill School District (York #4)Digital Art & Design TeacherPosition DetailsPurpose Statement:The job of the Digital Art & Design Teacher is done for the purpose/s of planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional program in a secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and ful?ll their academic potential. The Digital Art and Design classes are for students wanting to gain an industry-based education in Visual Communication with Graphic Design, Illustration, Animation, Motion Graphics and Photography. Teachers foster creativity while providing hands-on instruction using the current techniques and the industry’s popular hardware, software, audiovisual materials and books.This job reports to the Principal.Essential Functions

  • Instructs students for the purpose of improving their knowledge and skills in art (e.g. crafts, drawing, painting design, etc.) and in the proper use of equipment, tools and/or supplies.
  • Prepares teaching materials and related reports (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and documenting student progress.
  • Develops lessons that address grade level and content standards for the purpose of designing engaging work for students.
  • Demonstrates methods required to perform assignments for the purpose of providing an e?ective school program and addressing the needs of individual students.
  • Assesses student progress, expectations, goals, etc. for the purpose of determining student acquisition of knowledge and of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
  • Collaborates with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions and planning curriculum.
  • Directs instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student aides for the purpose of providing an e?ective school environment for students which addresses their needs. Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of supporting teacher’s expectations, developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
  • Monitors student activities (e.g. classroom, lunch, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of providing for the safety and welfare of students.
  • Reports incidents (e.g. ?ghts, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to education code, administrative and/or school policies.
  • Assists other teachers for the purpose of implementing curriculum.
  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Participates in various meetings for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information. Other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: Minimum QualificationsSkills, Knowledge and AbilitiesSKILLS are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Speci?c skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: applying e?ective and innovative instructional and student evaluation techniques and developing interpersonal relationships with pupils, parents, teachers, sta? and the general public; outstanding verbal and written skills.KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; read and follow instructions; and understand written and oral instructions. Speci?c knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: knowledge of instructional technology and it’s applications to the teaching of Drone Operations and Visual Communications; knowledge of best practices and instructional approaches in general relative to Drone Operations and Visual Communications; knowledge of human growth and development.ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; routinely gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing a variety of complex processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with signi?cantly diverse individuals and/or groups. In working with others, independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on curriculum standards and organizational objectives; problem solving with equipment is limited. Speci?c abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: using appropriate teaching techniques; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining con?dentiality; working with frequent interruptions; assessing students’ abilities and instructional programs; and working with other teachers to promote interdisciplinary studies and school goals.ResponsibilityResponsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and operating within a de?ned budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job’s functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the Organization’s services.Working EnvironmentThe usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and signi?cant ?ne ?nger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 45% walking, and 45% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and a generally hazard free environment.Experience Job related experience is required, 4 year minimum.Education Minimum of Highschool Diploma/GED and 4+ years of hands-on work experience in the marketing/advertising industry directly responsible for the design, development and production of print/web marketing/advertising materials. Portfolio of work showing experience using Adobe Photoshop and Graphic Design.Certi?cates & LicensesEligible for SC CTE Work-Based Certi?cation in Digital Art and Design to include 4 years work experience in the industry and ability to complete trade examFLSA Status Salary GradeExempt Teacher Salary Schedule
