Clerkships are available with our Access to Care and Coverage Practice (ACC) and our Mental Health Advocacy Program for Kids (MHAP for Kids). Arrangements for the Summer Law Clerks are flexible. HLA ran highly successful remote and hybrid Law Clerk programs in the summers of 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.About MHAP for KidsHLA’s Mental Health Advocacy Program for Kids (MHAP for Kids) diverts children with unmet mental health needs from the juvenile justice system by helping them access mental health services. MHAP for Kids attorneys are embedded in Family Resource Centers (FRCs) across Massachusetts where they help at-risk youth overcome barriers to mental health services. A Boston University study of MHAP for Kids found that the program improves the health of children and their families.The Summer Law Clerk: ResponsibilitiesHealth Law Advocates (HLA) seeks two Law Clerks to work full-time for 10 weeks with MHAP for Kids during the summer of 2025. The Law Clerks will work with the program’s attorneys in a variety of ways. They will assist attorneys with the representation of individual clients with duties such as conducting legal research, analyzing children’s health and educational records, assisting attorneys’ advocacy with schools and state agencies, and communicating with clients and key collaterals.
