Description: I. JOB OVERVIEWJob Description Summary:Established in 1865, The George Washington University Law School is the oldest law school in Washington, DC. The school is accredited by the American Bar Association and is a charter member of the Association of American Law Schools. The law school is located on the GW campus in the downtown neighborhood familiarly known as Foggy Bottom. This position is located in the Law School’s Legal Clinic Office.The incumbent provides administrative support to the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, faculty, and students. Serves as the face of the office and is responsible for greeting visitors and answering, and disseminating phone calls in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. Ensure effective telephone and written communication, both internally and externally. This position manages conference, classroom, and interview room scheduling. Assist with event planning by setting up and breaking down or cleaning up conference rooms and other shared spaces.This position works under direct supervision, follows standard procedures and escalates non-routine questions.Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists assigned clinical faculty with a wide variety of administrative duties (scanning, faxing, typing, filing, shipping to FedEx/UPS/USPS, scheduling appointments, telephone inquiries, making reservations, preparing course materials, renewing subscriptions, etc.).
  • Maintains and organizes client case files.
  • Assists at the front desk reception including answering incoming calls and providing legal services referrals; pick up, opens, processes, and distributes mail; and assists in other general office-related tasks.
  • Performs data entry, creates spreadsheets and/or reports, and assists with minor IT troubleshooting.
  • Maintains and organizes department files with responsibility for periodic retirement and/or disposal of obsolete materials.
  • Solves routine administrative or procedural problems with other departments, and coordinates the maintenance of office equipment including copiers, fax machines, phones, etc.
  • Assists the supervisor with the maintenance of the case management system, with the organization of department events, and with any other tasks that may arise daily.
  • Assists in the creation of posters, writing, and digital announcements for events.
  • Assist with the department’s social media accounts.
  • Assist with content management and presence on the following platforms: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  • Meets with leadership to share ideas, communicate goals, and capture new information on client stories and internal department activities that we can promote publicly.

Minimum Qualifications:Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent administrative office experience including attention to detail and demonstrated ability to organize tasks, preferably in an academic setting.
  • Ability to work independently and complete routine tasks without additional guidance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient with computer software for email and mailing lists (Gmail), word processing (Google Docs, Word), spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets), and Google Drive for shared files, as well as familiarity with other contemporary office applications.
  • Experience using Instagram and LinkedIn for social networking.
  • Ability to use general office equipment and basic audiovisual equipment (camera, microphone).
  • Fluent in Spanish strongly preferred

Hiring Range $18.06 – $23.50
