Description: TITLE: Scientist II, Flow Cytometry (full-time)REPORTING LOCATION: Rockville, MDREPORTS TO: Pre-Clinical Manager, Flow CytometryJob OverviewThis is a full-time laboratory-based position located in Rockville, MDServe as a pre-clinical and clinical Flow Cytometry Scientist with Champions Oncology. You will lead development and execution of immuno-oncological flow cytometry studies in a client-oriented environment. This hands-on position requires a background in immunology and immunotherapeutic approaches to cancer treatment. The Flow Cytometry Scientist II will work in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment to adapt current offerings for client-specific needs. Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform multi-parameter flow cytometry (murine, human, non-human primate tissue/cells) including panel design (

12 colors), instrument set-up, sample preparation, sample acquisition and data analysis. * Responsible for quality and efficiency of studies performed within the laboratory.

  • Lead analysis of pre-clinical and clinical flow cytometry data (using Flowjo, Diva, and SpectroFlo software) and reporting of results.
  • Responsible for scheduling and effectively planning and executing workload, including managing timeline, deliverables and developing reports for various projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with established procedures and environment in a regulated laboratory, including good documentation practices.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and develop methods for unmet experimental needs.
  • Training, mentoring, and supervise junior employees on SOPs & procedures.
  • Interact with other internal Champions Oncology teams and external clients.

QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Proficient in multi-parameter flow cytometry including panel design (

12 colors, instrument set-up, sample acquisition, data analysis). * Data analysis experience using Flowjo, Diva software and other FACS related analysis tools.

  • Experience with Cytek Instruments and Spectral Cytometry a plus.
  • Proficiency in the analysis and understanding of immune cells and molecules.
  • Primary immune cell culture (experience with T cells, NK cells, Dendritic cells, Macrophages)
  • Experience in data interpretation and statistical analysis.
  • Ability to coordinate parallel tasks across multiple projects, demonstrating prioritization.
  • Ability to communicate, both written and verbally, highly complex concepts to a variety of audiences a plus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ph.D. in immunology, cellular and/or tumor biology or a closely related field.
  • Experience in flow cytometry, immune cell phenotyping of immune cell subsets (2+ years Academia or Industry).
  • Experience designing and developing flow cytometry panels.
  • Demonstrated experience in in vivo immunology and oncology tumor model preferred.
  • Experience in a GCLP, CLIA environment is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be able to sit and use hands to finger, handle and feel.
  • Must be able to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time using a computer in a typical office environment in a multi-level facility
  • Some activities require repetitive motion and reaching, pulling or pushing.
  • In carrying out the duties of the job there will be frequent exposure to fumes and chemical hazards.
  • Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.

Salary: $87000 – 97000 per year
