Proficient or Excellent cumulative rating on evaluations (at least 2 summative ratings)
Appropriate professional certification
Master’s Degree preferred
Primary assignment in the department at the level representing building chair positionResponsibilitiesTeacher Support
1. Facilitate communication regarding curriculum/content area needs and goals.
2. Provide guidance to improve consistency in grading expectations.
3. Order needed equipment, supplies, and textbooks for the department.
4. Maintain department assigned equipment.
5. Arrange to meet and assist departmental substitutes on a daily basis.
6. Assist with mentoring new teachers.Curriculum & Assessment1. Maintain inventory of department equipment, supplies, and textbooks.
2. Coordination of content area curriculum/objectives.
3. Analyze assessment and department data for improvement of instruction/student need.Communication1. Meet periodically with the Director of Secondary Education.
2. Attend scheduled building and district departmental chair meetings with administration.
3. Provide input to assist with coordination and leadership of annual institutes/school improvement/staff development presentations.
4. Serve as a communication liaison for department information at the building and district level.
5. Organize materials for and attend freshman orientation. (HS)
6. Facilitate process of yearly department award winners and attend scheduled award ceremony. (HS)Leadership1. Serve as communication liaison between the administration and the members of the content area.
2. Assist with leadership of curriculum task forces/provide recommendations to administration.
3. Lead PLC work (yearly goal planning, share/create agenda for PLC meetings)
4. Provide leadership in review of instructional materials.
5. Assist with interviews for potential department teachers.
6. Provide recommendations for departmental teaching schedules and room utilization. (HS)
