The POCT Lab is centrally managed from the Newark campus for the system. However, this role will require flexibility for assignment/deployment to other sites across the system when needed. This position is Day Shift, Monday – Friday.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Act as a technical resource for POCT instrumentation and connectivity, and methodologyReviews and revises POCT policies and procedures with the collaboration of POCT manager at other Christiana Care locationsReviews and manages Christiana Care Blood Gas (I-Stat) quality control and patient data daily, including troubleshooting the I-Stat system and interacting daily with nursing and physician staff to resolve problemsReviews quality control and proficiency testing for all POC testing including ensuring that corrective action, maintenance and troubleshooting are documented appropriatelyMeets all requirements of CAP, Joint Commission, and other inspection and/or regulatory agencies for POCTEducates non-laboratory staff POCT personnel in good laboratory practices, technical procedures, and regulatory requirementsMaintains a POCT Quality Assurance programActs as a liaison between patient care areas and clinical laboratory, promoting understanding and collaboration between departmentsEducation and Experience Requirements:Bachelors of Science in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science; or equivalent BS degree which requires completion of clinical rotations through an approved education programASCP Certification requiredAt least three years of medical laboratory science experienceTeaching experience preferredChristianaCare offers:Incredible Work/Life benefits including medical/dental/ vision insurance coverage on your first day of employment, paid PTO, retirement plans, twelve weeks of paid parental leave, annual membership to care.com, access to backup care services for dependents through Care@Work, retirement planning services, financial coaching, fitness and wellness reimbursement, and great discounts through several vendors for hotels, rental cars, theme parks, shows, sporting events, movie tickets and much more!If you ‘re inspired to make a difference, we invite you to become a ChristianaCare caregiver!
