When you wear or work with TOMS you help fund access to mental health resources for the millions of people who need them.About the RoleAs a Material Developer at TOMS, you will be responsible for the research, development and commercialization of all nominated footwear materials including all In-line and Special Projects. In this fast-paced position you will work directly with the Design team to identify the seasonal material palette and develop custom materials and prints. You will be accountable for pre-ordering materials for each stage of sampling and making sure that all materials are commercialized and on standard in accordance with the Go-to-Market Calendar. In addition, you will make sure that all materials meet the company’s sustainability, quality, cost and lead-times targets.What You’ll Do:Material Research and Sourcing – Manages the seasonal material requests from Design to Asia Materials Team to ensure on time header submissions. Provide technical expertise during the research and sourcing of all seasonal new materials that support the Product Team objectives and initiatives. Ensure that all sustainable materials meet TOMS specified standards and thresholds during the material development process.Conduct Material Preorder – Organize and prepare material request headers for Design and Material review meetings. Actively participates in material review meetings toward final material selection. Organizes the setup of new materials and colors in Product Bridge and creates the material preorder in accordance with the Go to Market Calendar. Responsible for the on-time ordering and approval of materials for sample making. Collaborates with the Design team to ensure all materials needed are captured in the preorder.Material Development and Commercialization – Manages the on-time development of all nominated footwear at each stage of sampling. Responsible for the final material standards for development and production including reviewing master standard swatches and color windows for final approval and standardization. Anticipates problems and facilitates solutions that minimize sample and commercialization delays. Collaborates on production issues with AO materials team. Expedites drop information to AO Materials Team to reduce material liability and development costs.Meetings & Communication – Actively engages and participates in the AO & HQ Weekly Meeting to provide feedback and updates on open issues. Supports the preparation of the seasonal material meetings. Actively participates in all Go-To-Market Meetings to capture all material comments that are off standard, dropped or added. Follows up with Product Team on any outstanding issues.Manages Database Integrity – Maintains and verifies that all material information in our internal system is updated and correct (Product Bridge and Airtable). Verifies all material specs are inputted into the database.Maintains General Reports – Manages the updates of Product Bridge and Material WIPS (Pre-Order through SMS. Distributes WIP Report, Costing and MOQ Report to cross functional teams for alignment.Creates and Updates Material Boards – Manages the creation and communication of all digital material boards for cross functional alignment.Sustainable Materials – Manages all sustainable material certificates for all sustainable materials from development through the end of production. Including applying for finished product certifications.Material Costs, MOQ, and LLT – Works cross functionally with the Product Team to make sure the material costs are in target range. Flags any high MOQ or Long Lead-time materials.Material Library and Other Tasks – Organize and maintain the material library and seasonal material development swatches.
