The Science, Computing and Engineering Pathway at Portland Community College is on the lookout for a passionate and innovative As a key influencer, in our academic community, you will have the unique opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and practice, connecting students with the latest advancements in Programming and Database Development.Position is scheduled to start August 2025 at the start of PCC’s Fall Term.This instructor will prepare PCC’s students for jobs at the cutting edge of technology through: the development of our CIS program,curriculum development, course instruction, and partnerships with local industry for internships and advisory boards, as well as other tasks as assigned. HTML/CSS
JavaScript
Node.js frameworks for web development
Relational (Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, etc.) and non-relational (MongoDB, Hadoop, TAO, RocksDB, etc.) database experience
DevOps and Cloud Computing
Other frameworks such as Express/React etc.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

CIS 120, 121 and 122 include embedded Related Instruction in Computation. In order to teach these courses, instructor must have completed college-level algebra or higher Math.
Starting Salary Expectations Initial Salary Placement will be between Step 1 ($73,911) and Step 3 (78,408) based on related experience, per PCC’s collective bargaining agreement.

PCC Benefits PCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. Includes Health, Dental, and Vision options, Group Life, Long-term Disability, Long-term Care, and Auto and Home Insurance programs.PCC currently funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee’s Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. A portion of the 6% will be diverted to The Employee Pension Stability Account as mandated by Senate Bill 1049. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.
Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for courses offered at PCC for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age; plus partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions.
Paid Leave:
1 day of sick leave for every 18 days worked (~10 per year)
21 hours of additional personal leave per year
