The team you will be joining is innovative, dynamic, and forward-looking.What you will do for Harris County Precinct 4 (HCP4)The Government Affairs Coordinator at Harris County Precinct 4 plays a pivotal role in fostering communication, collaboration, and advocacy between the precinct and various governmental bodies, stakeholders, and community groups.This position demands an individual possesses strong interpersonal skills and political acumen. The Government Affairs Coordinator must excel in written and verbal communication, with a profound understanding of governmental processes at the local, state, and federal levels.The Government Affairs Coordinator reports to the Manager and Director of Government Affairs and the Chief of Public Affairs.Job Duties and Responsibilities: The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed:

  • Governmental Relations
  • Develop and nurture positive relationships with elected officials, governmental agencies, and key stakeholders to advocate for the precinct’s interests and objectives.
  • Legislative Analysis
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at the local, state, and federal levels that may impact Harris County Precinct 4. Provide timely, well-articulated analysis and recommendations to precinct leadership on proposed policies, regulations, and legislation.
  • Partnership Development
  • Identify and leverage opportunities for collaboration with other governmental entities, advocacy organizations, and industry groups to achieve shared objectives and amplify impact. Facilitate dialogue and coordinate efforts among diverse stakeholders.
  • Issue Management
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from elected officials, governmental agencies, and the public regarding precinct policies, programs, and initiatives. Address concerns adeptly and resolve conflicts with tact and diplomacy.
  • Research and Analysis
  • Conduct thorough research on emerging issues, trends, and best practices in governmental affairs. Prepare well-written reports and presentations that distill complex information into actionable insights and recommendations for precinct leadership.
  • Representation
  • Represent Precinct 4 at community events, business meetings, and public forums to advocate for precinct and county initiatives.
