The West Lafayette campus, located one hour north of Indianapolis and two hours south of Chicago, has ten academic colleges with an enrollment of over 44,000 students from over 133 countries.Job SummaryThe Mitch Daniels School of Business at Purdue University invites candidates to apply for a full-time Clinical Associate/Full Professor position (non-tenure track) in our Law, Communications, and Ethics area that includes a service role as the Academic Director of Cornerstone for Business. Emerging from Purdue’s Cornerstone Integrated Liberal Arts program, Cornerstone for Business supports the school’s foundational pillars promoting transformational student experience, freedom, and capitalism while developing students’ communication and creative thinking skills. In Cornerstone for Business courses, students discuss classic texts on philosophy, business, and political economy. Development and management of a video series, course, and activities highlighting principled business leadership are expected. The program’s academic director will contribute to vision and strategy for the program and oversee a managing director who will assist in planning events, conferences, and competitions for the program. Any courses taught for Cornerstone for Business would also contribute toward overall teaching load. Candidates should have experience in teaching business law, ethics, philosophy, and related courses. The appointment is expected to begin February 2025 and is financed by a grant for an initial 5-year period. Continued position funding from grant renewal or school funds is conditional on performance evaluation.The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include a subset of the following:

  • Teach undergraduate business law and ethics courses as needed by the department.
  • Teach masters level business law and ethics courses as needed by the department.
  • The full-time position includes teaching in person, hybrid, and online as determined by the department needs, as well as a service component related to Cornerstone for Business and may include other additional service determined by the department needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • JD at the time of appointment
  • Relevant college or university teaching experience
  • Qualified under AACSB standards
  • Experience practicing law in either the public or private sector
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and service
  • Experience utilizing student management systems and online teaching platforms such as Brightspace, Blackboard, etc.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Admitted to practice law in any state
  • Masters in Business Administration or Ph.D. in philosophy, economics, or political economy
  • Experience teaching at an AACSB-accredited school
  • Expertise collaborating with and fostering relationships with faculty, students, staff, and administrators.
  • Experience integrating liberal arts and business or liberal arts and STEM education.
