Description: Camp Fireweed Nature & Arts Core Counselor*Camp Fireweed is NOT an overnight camp and does NOT provide room and board*Gear up for outdoor adventures at our day camp located in Anchorage on the campus of Alaska Pacific University. We take full advantage of this natural setting, making every day another opportunity for campers to explore the forest, practice target sports, or launch a canoe from the waterfront. In addition to a huge catalog of activities and games, we structure each session to create a classic, outdoor summer camp experience!Position Description:The Nature and Art Core Counselor will be responsible for developing and teaching nature, outdoor education, and outdoor living skills activities to campers and providing guidance on utilizing Leave No Trace principles. As well as Creative Arts (Creative Arts, drama, singing, music, acting, etc.) to campers.In this position you’ll gain valuable experience providing a high-quality camp experience for participants and parents within the CFA mission and goals. You’ll have an opportunity to lead and participate in all camp activities along with planning and implementing age appropriate activities consistent with campers’ needs/abilities that promote, encourage, and demonstrate caring, striving and thriving.   • Bonus for completing the full season

Work Dates: May 5th – August 8, 2025 (beginning with planning and start-up training)Work Schedule: 8 hours/day, Monday – Friday during camp program hours of 7am – 6pmQualifications:

  • Prior experience in planning and leading creative arts and outdoor living skills activities.
  • Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid Certification, preferred.
  • Eighteen (18) years of age required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting entities.
  • Current Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/ First Aid Certification from a nationally recognized provider (preferred) or availability to attend a certification course at the Camp Fire AK local office prior to listed position start date.
  • Prior experience working with youth preferred.
