Description: Under the direction and general supervision of the Principal, the Assistant Principal serves as a critical member of the site-based instructional leadership team. As a part of the leadership team, the Assistant Principals support the Principal to ensure that the school meets rigorous goals, specifically to ensure all students graduate college and career ready, while supporting student health, welfare, and safety.Primary ResponsibilitiesLeadershipSupports overall management of the school’s instructional and extra-curricular programs; serves as part of the site leadership teamSets and meets rigorous goals related to school improvement, and college and career readinessAssists in selection, supervision, and evaluation of certificated and classified staffAssists in the development and implementation of effective communications with staff, students, and the communityWorks with parents, teachers, counselors, administrators, and students to support student academic progress, attendance, discipline and welfare; facilitates parent conferencesAssists in development and facilitation of high-quality professional learning opportunities Develops and facilitates staff professional developmentInstructional ProgramImplements rigorous protocols for analyzing data and progress toward goalsAssists in the design and implementation of the school’s instructional programCoordinates administration of state and district assessmentsProvides support with instructional materials including instructional technologyAssists in the development of the master class schedule and the assignment of teachers to coursesServes as a part of the instructional coaching team; coaches and evaluates instructionPrepares and maintains necessary records and reportsCreates and updates Student Handbook; supervises development and maintenance of school or student calendars, handbooks, schedules, and bulletinsCoordinates and assists in student orientation and class registration processes.Health, Welfare, and SafetyAdministers programs for student health and welfareSupports process of building positive school culture; maintains student discipline and campus safetySupervises building and ground useSupervises counseling and guidance personnelManages and monitors attendance accounting systems and policies within the schoolCollaborates with School Resource Officers and SJPDMaintains and updates the School Safety Plan; supervises site emergency proceduresOversees the Incident Command System at the site in case of disasterMonitors student discipline systems, and implements restorative justice practices as applicableAssists counseling department in supporting students, including Student Study Teams (SSTs), 504 plans, and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)Program Coordination / ExtracurricularActs as a liaison to community organizationsAssumes responsibility for assigned aspects of graduation ceremoniesCoordinates the assignment of faculty to co-curricular activitiesSupervises athletic and/or intramural eventsSupervises student and school activitiesImplements state law and district policyOversees student enrollment processes including data entry and reportingPerforms all other duties as assigned by the school Principal and/or Superintendent or designeeWho we areCampbell Union High School District, located in the heart of the Silicon Valley, is a small, close knit district committed to ensuring every student is ready for the future.
