QualificationsIn addition to the Basic Requirements for this position:FOR THE GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in preparing outlines of services, scope of work, government construction estimates and engineering fee estimates for work to be performed under Architect-Engineer (A&E) contract; 2) Assisting in preparing studies, designs, plans, specifications and cost estimates for a wide range of shore facility projects (new and existing); 3) Reviewing contractor submittals of shop drawings, samples of materials and components, catalog information and certificates of compliance with the contract requirements and intent and; 4) Make field visits to activities and jobsites to evaluate and investigate problems and work with supervisor to develop solutions. NOTE: Your resume must clearly support these duties.FOR THE GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing technical architectural project management for in-house Design-Bid-Build projects, in-house Design-Build RFP preparation, and oversight of A/E Design-Bid-Build projects and A/E Design-Build RFP preparation; 2) Prepares original concept architectural designs, construction drawings, and specifications, for a variety of building types for Supported Commands using computer-aided drafting/design (CADD) programs; 3) Make field surveys of existing facilities to evaluate conditions and determine the most appropriate, energy efficient and economical systems to meet function requirements and; 4) Review and approve construction submittals (shop drawings, catalog data, color selections, certificates of compliance, etc) to ensure conformance with plans and specifications. OR
Successful completion of a bachelor’s or higher degree in a field related to architecture that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems.
OR
Have a combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. The curriculum for a degree is in either architecture or architectural engineering and covers function, esthetics, site, structure, economics, mechanical-electrical, and other engineering problems related to the design and construction of buildings primarily (but not exclusively) intended to house human activitiesOR you lack a degree in architecture, but have 1 year of experience in an architect’s office or in architectural work for each year short of graduation from a program of study in architecture that demonstrates that you have acquired a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional architecture. (Note – In the absence of college courses, 5 years of such experience is required).MUST PROVIDE TRANSCRIPTS WITH APPLICATIONApplicants for the GS-11 that do not meet the specialized experience listed above may qualify for the GS-11 with education, registration, or a combination of education and experience as follows: You have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree directly related to architecture; or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree directly related to architecture; or you are registered to practice architecture by one of the State registration boards, using standards in compliance with the basic minimum provisions recommended by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards; or you have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience must equal one hundred percent.YOU MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS WITH APPLICATION.
