Description: Annual Salary: $53,841+ (Salary placement is based on experience and education level.)Job Summary:The School-Based Mental Health Therapist is responsible for providing therapy services related to mental health care to assigned students at a designated school location and will provide consultation services to the education staff to support the overall student wellness goals.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, group, family therapy, and counseling to students for the purpose of self-regulation skill development, trauma responsive therapeutic interventions, brief solution-based therapy, other cognitive and skill-based interventions, crisis intervention and implementation of quality mental health care with the ability to provide crisis counseling during critical incidents or other situations.
  • Attend meetings with school staff, mental health providers, families and students for behavior, interventions, attendance, individualized education programs, and for risk and threat assessments.
  • Consult with teachers, mental health staff and administrators regarding mental health interventions and best practices.
  • Provide continuous student evaluation consistent with established teacher, school and district objectives, goals and policies for the purpose of advising consistent and effective mental health services to reach set goal.
  • Refer students, parents, families and/or guardians to appropriate resources, special programs, or outside agencies, refer to community-based resources as needed. Document services for Medicaid reimbursement, if needed.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor/administrator.

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree required with a license in psychology, licensed clinical social work, licensed marriage and family therapy, or licensed professional counselor. This may include LPCC, LPC, LSW, LCSW Masters or PhD psychologist.
  • Possess, or be eligible for, Department of Regulatory Agencies License.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license.
  • At least 3 years experience as a licensed mental health provider.
  • Experience and expertise in working with children and adolescents.
  • Advanced knowledge and skill in the delivery of mental health programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively as a leader to include gaining the confidence and engagement of all members of the professional learning community and interdisciplinary department teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and to coach and support staff so that they may effectively implement best practices.
  • Successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, English language, presentation/training, critical thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations governing school systems related to wellness and mental health.
  • Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of job.
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education, Superintendent, school and department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
  • Official transcripts required.
  • Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
