Description: We are seeking qualified individuals to fill various ancillary positions on a short-term, temporary basis.The School Psychologist is directly responsible for the psychological assessment of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral domains utilizing problem-solving and standardized evaluations. The School Psychologist monitors the completion of case study evaluations and participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) conferences and problem-solving meetings designing systems, programs and services that maximize students’ social, emotional, and educational success. In collaboration with staff, families, students, and communities the school psychologist promotes effective educational environments.PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONSFully licensed to serve as a school psychologist;Knowledge of special education rules and regulations;Experience in working with students who manifest a wide range of abilities.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESAbility to implement and instruct established Grosse Pointe CurriculumIncludes culturally diverse themes in lessons and instruction, including historical or other information as to cultures having significant impact on the world, nation or community.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.Experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting.Collects data and provides systematic observations for students experiencing emotional, learning or attention problems in the classroom.Conducts extensive student psychological evaluations and reevaluations.Interprets psychological data to Multi-Disciplinary Teams, Individual Education Planning Teams, teachers, professionals, and parents.Provides interventions and makes recommendations to assist high risk students in the classroomOutstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to independently and accurately implement the requirements of the IDEA and Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE).Ability to work effectively on a team with a variety of other staff members from various disciplines, as well as parents.Outstanding evaluation/diagnostic skills particularly in the area of learning disabled, emotional impairments, autism spectrum disorders and cognitive impairments.Strength in behavioral assessments and intervention planning.Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
