To apply, click “Apply to Job” online on this web page.Research Scientist ResponsibilitiesUtilize technical research background, train new ranking models, and run experiments.Create tools for migrating large bodies of user data across systems for new products, scalability efforts, and development of research infrastructure.Use machine learning, statistics, or other data techniques to build algorithms.Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.Designing and executing empirical research projects that identify the causal effects of on-platform interventionsre-analyzing and synthesizing existing evidence from political science, economics, psychology, human-computer interaction, sociology, and other fieldsand evaluating existing internal tools for empirical validation.Provide exceptional, self-driven research with an ability to not only identify critical question, but also work across teams and backgrounds to execute research of special interest to company leadership.Minimum QualificationsPh.D. degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.Requires completion of a university-level course, research project, internship, or thesis in the following:1. Algorithms, data structures, or systems software2. Solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches3. Gathering, manipulating, or analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources4. Communicating complex research in a clear, precise, and actionable manner5. Research in topics closely related to machine learning, NLP, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, signal processing, data mining, artificial intelligence, information retrieval, or computer vision6. Devising better data-driven models of human behavior7. Developing highly scalable classifiers and tools leveraging machine learning, statistics, regression, rules-based models, or mathematical models8. R9. Counterfactual reasoning: causal inference and econometrics10. Familiarity with emerging methods for evaluating empirical claims, including awareness of measurement and valuation methods, AND11.
