If you are a proactive individual who thrives both independently and in a team setting, then this role could be the perfect opportunity for you!DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this role, you will be responsible for enforcing all aspects of the Dog Law and any relevant statutes, including the State Dog Law (Act 47) and the Rabies Law (Act 181). Your duties will include inspecting dogs to verify their licensing status in accordance with the State Dog Law, as well as investigating reports of dogs running at large, apprehending those animals, and ensuring their safe transport. You will also address incidents of dog bites by placing quarantines on the involved dogs to protect public safety. Additionally, you will conduct thorough investigations into claims of damage to livestock or poultry caused by dogs, preparing detailed reports for potential compensation. Your responsibilities will extend to investigating suspected illegal transportation or euthanasia of dogs, as well as monitoring out-of-state dealers. You will handle public complaints regarding illegal kennels, violations of the State Dog Law, and inhumane conditions, conducting investigations and compiling reports for supervisory review. Research into unlicensed kennels will involve online searches and follow-ups on consumer complaints, with findings assessed by your supervisor to determine appropriate actions.Interested in learning more?   • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Position will be home headquartered if applicant lives in Montgomery County. If applicant does not live in Montgomery County the assigned state vehicle must be parked in Montgomery County and the work day will start at 8:00 AM at the location of the assigned state vehicle.
  • Travel and occasional overtime required
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in dog law enforcement, animal control, animal welfare, or animal science work; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
