Description: ICT Operations Specialist – Virtualization ServicesWe are looking for a ICT Operations Specialist – Virtualization Services for our Huntersville, NC facility. The ICT Operations Specialist – Virtualization Services is a critical role within the IT Infrastructure team, responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of virtualization platforms. The role ensures the stability, performance, and scalability of virtualized environments, supporting Oerlikon’s global IT operations and business needs.The job holder collaborates with internal teams and external partners to deliver reliable and cost-effective virtualization solutions, while ensuring compliance with organizational standards and industry best practices.Your Responsibilities:

• Perform daily monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of virtualization platforms, including VMware, Hyper-V, and cloud-based virtualization environments.
• Implement configuration changes to virtualization systems in line with change management processes.
• Manage and optimize resource allocation within the virtual environment to ensure performance and scalability.
• Respond to and resolve incidents related to virtualization systems, minimizing downtime and impact on business operations.
• Support the deployment of new virtual machines and the configuration of associated services.
• Conduct regular patching and updates to virtualization platforms to ensure security and compliance.
• Collaborate with storage, network, and security teams to maintain an integrated infrastructure environment.
• Maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, processes, and incidents.
• Ensure high availability and performance of virtualized environments in line with SLAs.
• Deliver timely resolution of incidents and proactive prevention of recurring issues.
• Provide accurate and up-to-date documentation for virtualization systems and processes.
• Contribute to capacity planning and forecasting for virtualization infrastructure.
• Deliver consistent, reliable virtualization services to support business operations.
• Develop and refine operational procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Contribute to the organization’s overall infrastructure strategy by providing insights on virtualization trends and improvements.
• Act as a subject-matter expert in virtualization services within the IT Infrastructure team.
• Provide guidance and technical support to other team members and stakeholders.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of virtualization processes and practices.
• In compliance with U.S. Government technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and CMMC you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Your Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in virtualization operations.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and cloud virtualization platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
• Strong understanding of operating systems, including Windows and Linux.
• Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtualized environments.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and service management frameworks.
• Relevant certifications such as VMware VCP, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Proficient in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting virtualization platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex virtualization issues.
• Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to streamline operations.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
• Commitment to staying current with emerging trends and technologies in virtualization.
• Experience with cloud-native virtualization solutions and hybrid environments.
• Knowledge of storage systems and their integration with virtualized platforms.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of network principles and their impact on virtualization.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergencies outside normal working hours
