Oak Park and River Forest High School, or OPRF, is a comprehensive public high school located in Oak Park, Ill., a suburb eight miles due west of downtown Chicago. We are a one-school district, with the majority of our students coming from two sender districts, River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. We offer more than 200 courses, a variety of programs for students with special needs, 75 clubs and activities, and 29 competitive sports. We prepare our students well for post-secondary success, with an average ACT composite score of 24 and a 94% graduation rate.Oak Park and River Forest are communities that highly value diversity. We are currently seeking individuals to join our team where we enable all students to achieve their full potential every day.Position Summary:The Division Head of Fine and Applied Arts is a key member of the All-District Administrative (ADA) Team and the Student Learning/Division Head team. This role is central to student learning decision-making, providing recommendations, collaborating with colleagues, and implementing decisions aligned with the District Strategic Plan. The Division Head oversees all curricular, instructional, student, personnel, and financial matters within their division, acting as the primary administrative contact for faculty, staff, students, and parents.Essential Functions:Provide educational leadership for the division and the entire school program.Hires, assigns, supports, and evaluates division faculty and staff.Recommend course additions, deletions, or revisions aligned to long-range curricular needs.Guide the selection and development of curricular materials and instructional methodologies.Recommend textbooks and other teaching materials.Collaborates with post-secondary institutions (Concordia) to develop the OPRF Grow Your Own program, which facilitates district students’ transition to careers in education.Collaborates with career and technical education schools to develop and facilitate district students’ transition to careers in Human Services.Teaches one year-long course and assumes additional teaching duties as needed.Collaborate on faculty and staff FTE recommendations based on course enrollments.Facilitates regular data reviews to inform decision-making.Assist in planning summer school course offerings and teacher assignments.Develop and manage budgets for five departments: Visual Art, Music, Theater/Television Studio, Business and Family & Consumer Science, and Auditorium/Box Office.Assist in the selection and coordination of student teachers, interns, and substitute teachers.Oversee four Department Chair positions within the division.Promote student and division member accomplishments.Develop goals, activities, and outcomes for divisional professional learning teams.Support the district recruitment and employment efforts.Oversee the selection of directors and plays for 12 annual dramatic productions.Maintain and manage equipment in the Visual Arts, Theater/Television Studio, Instrumental and Vocal Music program, and Business and Family & Consumer Science.Write and manage grant applications for CTE, Carl Perkins, and the Des Plaines Valley Region for Employment (DVR).Serve as the district representative on the Des Plaines Valley Regional Administrative Council.Serve as a member of the Applause Parent Group.
