Description: Human Resources GeneralistLocation: Fond du Lac, WISalary: $70,000- $85,000The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for supporting and administering HR programs, policies, and activities at the plant level. This role collaborates with management to foster a positive work environment aligned with company objectives, enhances employee engagement, and ensures compliance with applicable laws.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesRecruitment and Onboarding

  • Manage the recruitment process for all hourly and salaried positions, including maintaining the applicant database, sourcing and posting positions, interviewing and coordinating interviews, screening applicants, and performing reference checks.
  • Oversee the offer process and pre-employment steps, such as background checks, drug tests, and physicals.
  • Facilitate new hire onboarding, ensuring all required documentation and processes are completed.
  • Maintain inventory of pre-employment materials, orientation booklets, benefit guides, promotional items, and other onboarding materials.

Payroll and Administrative Tasks

  • Administer bi-weekly payroll for all plant employees.
  • Set up and maintain employee personnel files, ensuring accurate documentation is routed to Corporate HR.
  • Manage data accuracy in the HRIS, including processing status changes and addressing time and attendance corrections.
  • Communicate and manage the paid time off program for plant employees.

Employee Relations and Engagement

  • Partner with the Regional HR Manager to address employee relations concerns, investigate issues, and recommend resolutions.
  • Advise supervisors on coaching, corrective actions, and performance management strategies.
  • Act as a resource for employee inquiries, such as benefits, leave of absence (LOA)/FMLA, and payroll concerns.
  • Conduct exit interviews with departing employees and manage the No Fault Attendance policy, issuing corrective action documents when necessary.
  • Plan and execute employee engagement activities to promote a positive workplace culture.

Training and Compliance

  • Coordinate and deliver training programs that support organizational and employee development goals.
  • Facilitate meetings with employees and managers, such as training sessions and annual open enrollment events.
  • Partner with the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team to support workplace safety initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent enforcement of company policies in collaboration with supervisors and managers.

Reporting and Communication

  • Prepare HR-related reports, such as turnover, absenteeism, and overtime hours.
  • Communicate and prepare correspondence, including letters, memorandums, reports, offer letters, and benefit summaries, most of which are confidential.
  • Lead weekly staffing meetings with Plant Leadership teams.

Corporate HR Support

  • Partner with Corporate HR to support annual initiatives, including performance management, open enrollment, and policy updates.
  • Support the implementation of company-wide projects and initiatives as needed.

Position Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required); Associate’s Degree or Equivalent (Preferred).
  • Experience: 3–5 years of HR and/or payroll experience.
  • Skills and Competencies:
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) across all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships and maintain high levels of communication.
