Applications are invited from eligible Male and Female candidates for filling up the posts of Sub Inspector in the Pay Band of Rs.9300-34800/- + Grade Pay Rs. 4200/- in the Railway Protection Force (RPF) including Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF). Details are given below:

Syllabus of RPF SI / Exam Pattern of WRITTEN EXAMINATION:
The Written Examination will consist of 120 multiple choice objective type questions of one mark each and shall be of 90 minutes’ duration. The question paper will carry 120 as maximum marks. The question paper will consist of 35 questions on General Intelligence & Reasoning (35 Marks), 35 questions on Arithmetic (35 Marks) and 50 questions on General Awareness (50 Marks). Candidates will be required to answer all the questions. Each correct answer will be awarded 1(one) mark and 0.25 mark will be deducted for 1 (one) incorrect answer. No mark shall be awarded or deducted for questions not attempted.
General Awareness (50 marks) :- Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to the society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India especially pertaining to History, Arts & Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Sports, General Science, Scientific Research etc.
Arithmetic (35 marks) :- This part will include questions on problems relating to Number systems, Computation of whole numbers, decimal and fractions and relationships between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentages, ratio and proportions, averages, simple and compound interest, profit and loss, discount, use of table and graphs, mensuration, time and distance, ratio and time etc.
General Intelligence & reasoning (35 marks) :- It would include questions of both verbal and non- verbal type. This component will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problems solving analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation , relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc.
Candidates must bring the Call Letter at the time of written test. Call letter will be sent by post. No one will be allowed to appear in the written examination without a call letter.
The call letter will contain the date, place, venue and time of the examination and other instructions, if any on this subject
A candidate must obtain at least 40% marks (35% in the case of SC and ST candidates) in the Written Examination for being considered for other Test /Tests.
PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TEST (PET) AND PHYSICAL MEASUREMENT
The applicants who are finally selected will be sent for a medical examination at a Railway Hospital. They will have to qualify in medical category ‘B-1’ as prescribed in Indian Railway Medical Manual. Those wearing glasses or having flat foot, knock-knee, squint eye, colour blindness and other bodily defects are not eligible for appointment.
